Plan Items and Occurrences
A Plan Item is one money action in the plan. Examples: a home loan EMI, an SWP, a SIP, a PPF deposit, a yearly premium.
What a Plan Item holds
- A name and an amount.
- A direction: money in or money out.
- The Member it belongs to.
- A schedule: monthly (day of the month), yearly (day and month), or one date.
- An optional start date and an optional end date.
- An optional link to a Holding.
- A protected flag.
A Member can pause, resume, edit, or stop a Plan Item. A paused or stopped Plan Item makes no new Occurrences.
Occurrences
An Occurrence is one dated instance of a Plan Item. For example: "EMI, 5 Nov 2026". Kosh makes Occurrences from the schedule. A monthly Plan Item on day 31 falls on the last day of a shorter month.
| Status | Shown as | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | An empty ring | The due date has not ended. No Member marked it done. |
| Done | A filled circle with a check | A Member marked it done. Kosh records who and when. |
| Overdue | A red ring and the word "overdue" | The due date ended. No Member marked it done. |
The due date ends at 23:59 in the Household time zone. An overdue Occurrence stays overdue until a Member marks it done. The monthly progress counts an Occurrence in the month of its due date.
Notifications
Kosh uses local notifications on each iPhone.
- Each Plan Item has its own notification setting: on or off, and a lead time in days. The default lead time is 0 days, the due date.
- Every Member phone with notifications on gets notifications for all Plan Items of the Household.
- A Member can mute one Plan Item on their own phone. This does not change the other phones.
- iOS keeps at most 64 pending notifications for one app. Kosh schedules the nearest Occurrences first. It schedules the rest the next time you open the app.
Widget
The home screen widget shows the next pending or overdue Occurrence. It also shows the progress for the month, for example "3 of 8 done this month".
