Imports and privacy

Imports

An Import reads a statement file and creates or updates Holdings and Snapshots. A Member selects the file. If the file has a password, the Member types it.

The five Import types

StatementWhat Kosh reads from it
CAS PDF (CAMS or KFintech)Folios, units, values, and transactions. XIRR for each fund and each fund house.
Insurance policy PDFs (term, health, LIC)Cover, premium, dates, and the insured Member.
Scripbox CSVMutual fund Holdings and their values.
Loan statement PDFOutstanding principal, rate, EMI, and end date.
ULIP statement and PPF or NPS passbookValue, contributions, and the maturity or lock-in date.

Kosh reads a CAS PDF with fixed rules. Kosh reads the other four types with an AI model. Kosh checks each result against a fixed format before it shows the preview.

How an Import runs

  1. Select the file. Type its password if it has one.
  2. Kosh reads the file on its server and shows a preview.
  3. For the four types that an AI model reads, the Member can fix a wrong value in the preview.
  4. The Member applies the Import. Kosh creates or updates Holdings and adds Snapshots dated with the statement date.

Kosh changes no data until the Member applies the Import.

When an Import fails

  • Wrong password. Kosh says so, keeps nothing, and lets the Member try again.
  • A file Kosh cannot read. Kosh says which part failed and changes no data.
  • The same statement again. Kosh updates the existing Holdings. It makes no duplicates.

What Kosh keeps

Kosh never stores the file or its password. This holds when an Import works and when it fails. See Privacy.
